Lunchtime Talk: Fiddy Abraham – 5th November

Fiddy Abraham has been working with organisational change since she first arrived at the Tavistock Institute to join a programme of shipboard change.  She remains engaged with organisational change in its varied forms, latterly as a member of the European Organizational Design Forum.  With a background in political philosophy, Frances has worked with TIHR core methodologies, such as sociotechnical systems on organisational design, on culture change, drawing on systems psychodynamics and, increasingly with complexity theory in working with the emergent and other postmodern understandings of dialogue.  As a political animal, she understands her role as a participative enquirer in the world and citizen of The Tavistock Institute of Human Relations, among a range of identities.

From Intentions to Emergence in Organizational Design: Is there a Role for Action Research, is an emergent theme for this session, which Fiddy hopes to be developing at the EODF Annual Conference in Amsterdam and intends to continue further with those able to contribute their participation on November 5th at the Tavistock Institute.

Fiddy Abraham is a Principal Researcher / Consultant at the Tavistock Institute of Human Relations. The three main areas of Fiddy’s work at TIHR focus on (1) consultancy to address difficult issues within and across organizations and teach them to use these as a source of strength; (2) support to service delivery, especially within social care and to marginalised groups, working with service users, staff, management and policy actors;
(3) collaboration with public, voluntary and community and private sector clients in organization and interorganisational design.

Fiddy Abraham’s talk: Action in Organisational Design is part of the Tavistock Institute’s Food for Thought series.

If you would like to attend this talk please send an email to talks@tavinstitute.org with your name, the talk date and title.

Every third Wednesday at the Tavistock Institute, staff, associates, trustees and partners come together for these informal talks. As we enter the seventh year of talks we are continuing to explore the possibilities for development and new thought through engaging with a wider audience and open access to the talks.

You are welcome to bring your own lunch.

For more information on upcoming and previous talks, how to book or get more involved go to the dedicated Food for Thought webpages.
