Associate

Dr. Christopher Ramsden MA Ph.D C.Psychol.

Christopher is a Senior Associate, who has been an integral part of the Tavistock Institute offer on ICT-related project assignments for many years.

His areas of expertise include formative and summative evaluations of health and informatics systems, teaching and learning technologies, and usability evaluations of public and commercial online information systems and tools. Currently, he is on the team of the formative evaluation of the Virtual Research Environments for JISC. He is particularly interested in understanding the end user’s experience and interaction with electronic systems as well as the relation between embedding technologies and organisational change.

Chris’s experience also extends across other research and evaluation sectors, including: employment, work-life balance, higher education, libraries and archives and health services. Together with Dr. Dione Hills they run evaluation masterclasses aimed at training managers and NHS practitioners in self-evaluation and service improvement.

Chris has a first degree in Psychology, a Master’s Degree in Social Anthropology and a Ph.D in Social Psychology and Language. He is also a Chartered Psychologist and an Honorary Fellow in the Department of Psychology, University of Durham. Recently, Christopher has been involved in setting up Userdynamix Ltd, a new market research, evaluation and consultancy company, designed to help drive innovation and technology. Userdynamix aims to bridge the gap between technology and the end user or customer in order to optimise innovations for performance and use in the commercial and public fields.

Chris’s spare time is spent doing Wing Chun Kung Fu and Eskrima.
