Researcher/ Consultant

Shaun Doidge, BSc (Hons), MSc

I joined the Tavistock Institute of Human Relations (TIHR) in April 2009 as a Researcher/ Consultant. My interest is in organisational change, employee well-being as well as the study of organisational culture. I am experienced in conducting consultancy and research projects in large multi-site, multi-discipline public and private organisations in the UK and across Europe whilst using a range of tailored methodologies, both qualitative and quantitative in design.

Throughout my work I use a variety of qualitative methods such as workshops, observations, action learning sets, focus groups, structured and semi-structured face-to-face and telephone interviews as well as conducting quantitative research, and triangulating findings, whilst always maintaining a collaborative working relationship with clients and colleagues.

I have worked on a number of evaluation studies at European, national and local levels. At a European level evaluation studies include The Evaluation of the Europe Direct Contact Centre (DG COMMUNICATION, European Commission) and the Ex-post evaluation of the EURES Programme covering the period of 2006-08 (DG Employment, Social Affairs & Equal Opportunities, European Commission). From an organisational change perspective I have worked with the European Patent Office (EPO) in Supporting Values and Principles in the EPO, which involved the design and facilitation of workshops as well as conducting an evaluation of the process.

On a national level I have worked with a number of governmental departments, such as the Department for Local Government and Communities to conduct The Evaluation of the Timely Information to Citizens programme. As well as the Department for Transport for The Evaluation of Investment in Cycling across 12 cities and towns, and the Local Road User Safety

Other projects include a ‘Feasibility Study’ for the Department of Health and working for UNICEF co-facilitating action learning sets for the Child Friendly Community pilots.

I have experience in conducting research in the public, private and charity sectors within the UK and enjoys the complex challenges that each possess.

My academic background is firmly rooted within psychology (Organisational Psychology / Human Resource Management) and I studied BSc (Hons) in Psychology with Sociology (1st Class honours) and MSc in Occupational Psychology (Distinction). At the TIHR I have a role both in organisational development and in evaluation research assignments.
