Gillian Squirrell

Gillian joined the Institute in January 2008 and continues on a part-time basis as a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Bristol, where her research focuses organisational change and development with universities through their involvement in public engagement.

Gillian has a background in a number of areas of social science research and has led a wide range of research and evaluation projects which have informed policy development in such areas as assessment, informal learning and education, and homelessness.  She has been involved in a number of evaluations of social and learning based interventions designed to promote greater inclusion.  She has run a number of national consultations in the areas of education, informal learning and assessment and been engaged in a number of organisational development projects with Third Sector organisations.

She has a commitment to developing organisational and individual potential and has worked with housing associations, Third Sector organisations, the Prison Service, probation services, private sector custody providers and for Government Departments.

Her current research interests are in civil society, organisational learning, change and emergence.
