Julie Das
Julie Das is a Researcher and Consultant; she joined the Tavistock Institute in March 2007. Whilst at the Institute she has contributed to a wide variety of organisational development, evaluation and applied research projects, which have allowed her to strengthen her use of research methods and facilitation techniques.
In the field of applied research, Julie has led and completed small projects in the local government remit and most recently conducted fieldwork for a UK wide knowledge review in to the role of social care in emergency response for the Social Care Institute for Excellence (2008). Julie’s experience and knowledge of evaluation research has also grown considerably from her recent work on ‘Guidelines for better attribution in impact evaluations’ for the Department for Transport (2008), the ‘national evaluation of Phase two of Skilled for Health for the DIUS and DH (2008) and a methodological paper to inform the evaluation of Communities and Local Government’s PREVENT work. All have provided her with high level understandings of policy evaluation.
In terms of consultancy projects, Julie has been combining her research skills with OD consultancy with local government clients. Most recent is her work with the Local Authority Coordinators of Regulatory services (LACORS) to develop a strategy for prioritising future policy areas and role in light of changes within the sector.
Julie’s background before the Institute was within labour market research for a UK Sector Skills Council carrying out detailed research into industries related to the built environment. Her particular research interests stem from her academic background in urban geography and include the incorporation of visual methodologies into research and consultancy practice with particular relevance to work within local communities.
