Researcher / Consultant
Matt Gieve, BA, MSc
I joined the Tavistock Institute of Human Relations (TIHR) in September 2008 and now work as a Researcher/ Consultant on a number of projects in the field of social inclusion. This involves designing and conducting research and project management.
My current interest and understanding of research methods come both from my academic and professional roles. Prior to joining the Institute I occupied a number of research roles. I have gained experience of research design and project management, report writing and interviewing, literature reviews, and surveys.
While I enjoy research in a wide number of fields my particular interests lie in issues relating to mental health, stemming from my postgraduate degree in psychoanalytic theory. I currently work on our evaluation of The Right Here Programme, an initiative focused on Young People's mental health. Since joining TIHR I have also developed an interest in children and family policy through working on a number of projects in this field, most recently our evaluation of the Child Poverty Pilots.
Beyond my research activities I have recently become involved in the Institute's Professional Development work through the delivery of a workshop and wider participation at the annual ISPSO conference, allowing me to begin to bring much of my psychoanalytic theoretical knowledge to practice.
