E-Communications Manager

Sam Nightingale

I am the E-Communications Manager for the Tavistock Institute of Human Relations. I joined the Institute in October 2007, first in the role of co-ordinator for the AOC Masters programme and later as the co-ordinator for the Practitioner Certificate in Consulting and Change. I come from a background of working in universities, the voluntary sector and the visual arts.

The foundation of my work at the Tavistock Institute is based on my keen interest in education and the potential it creates for personal development; in all areas of my work I am passionately committed to the active support of life-long learning and personal development for individuals from a broad spectrum of life.

In my current role as E-Communications Manager, I am responsible for the ongoing development and implementation of the Institute 's e-communications strategy. I consider the task of e-communications and in particular our website as an important and valuable way to communicate the work of the Institute to a wide audience who, it is hoped, will find its content fresh, enjoyable and of benefit. For example, this means we produce regular news items and articles on the website giving details of some of projects our staff are working on, elsewhere on the website we publish case studies detailing the Institute's methodologies and in our publication section we have a selection of reports we have produced. The website also provides a platform to learn about all the professional development opportunities the Tavistock Institute offers.

In managing and developing the Institute 's electronic communications channels I am also able to bring my knowledge and experience as a visual artist who works across and through photography, video and sound. In my own art practice I explore the productive spaces between the still and moving image, articulated and non-spaces in relation to the urban environment, perception, movement and the banal.
