Our Work

Professional Development

Underlying all of our work is a commitment to disseminating the learning derived from our research, evaluation and consultancy over the past 65 years. We therefore offer the following professional development opportunities:

Our flagship group relations conference, the international Leicester Conference: Authority * Role * Organisation, held annually at the University of Leicester since 1957. If you're interested in leadership and strategy development in groups, organisations, communities and society, then attend one the next conference. We also run and support group relations conferences around the world which use Tavistock methodology - see www.grouprelations.com

Moreover, we can offer you a bespoke group relations conference tailored to your organisation's particular requirements. See the document: What is a group relations conference? on the right and for further information contact Rachel Kelly. Please request a brochure for the next Leicester conference 20 April - 3 May 2012.

P3C: Practitioner Certificate in Consulting and Change, delivered in 5 residential modules is an annual programme accredited by the TIHR which develops and deepens consulting and change management practices.

A certificated modular course in A Coaching for Leadership and Professional Development designed for experienced coaches and other professionals whose role requires coaching competence, the course works from contemporary Tavistock psychological, cultural and organisational perspectives to give you genuinely transformative insights into your practice. This course is always over-subscribed - we recommend early application.

Online Bion Reading Group and Dreaming Matrix, is a virtual space to explore the scientific, religious and aesthetic as they emerge in a Dream Matrix, through reading Bion. This, the third group, is offered in collaboration the Centre for Socio-Analysis (Australia), T-Consult (Peru) and The Tavistock Institute. Limited to 10 participants only. Download a brochure for 2011.

Hope for the Amazonas: Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Culture: in partnership with T-Consult, the Grubb Institute and Group Relations International, this annual group relations conference - a rare opportunity - takes place in Iquitos, Peru, with the next conference in January 2012. Please request a brochure.

Tavistock Study Groups: post-Leicester or other group relations conference, these occasional groups consist of 4-12 people who are facing change or challenges in their organisation - a series of meetings are held to explore their own and others' issues in different work settings facilitated by one of our Tavistock Organisational Consultants.

MSc in Leading Public Service Change and Organisational Development is an intensive and innovative residential programme of developmental education which is designed and delivered by the University of Birmingham in collaboration with the Tavistock Institute of Human Relations.

The AOC programme is no longer, however, instead we offer customised development and educational events that balance the unique issues of a particular organisation in a practical way using the AOC approach.

We also provide bespoke leadership development programmes which are designed specifically to meet the requirements of your organisation.

And we offer tailored individual and team coaching to executives and leaders bringing our whole-systems perspective to your organisation.
