Coaching for Leadership and
Professional Development

A certificated training course in 4 modules

We are pleased to announce that the next Coaching course begins in January 2012 and spans 4 x 2-day modules (Thursdays / Fridays):

  • 12 – 13 January
  • 16 – 17 February
  • 23 – 24 March
  • 10 – 11 May

The Tavistock Institute trains coaches with an approach that is underpinned by theories and models of real substance yet is eclectic and fluid enough to address the wide range of issues that confront the senior manager. Drawing on cultural, organisational and psychodynamic perspectives, the course moves beyond the application of simple models and methodologies. The emphasis is on the construction of relationships with clients and their organisations through which new perspectives and initiative can emerge.

Participants may be:

  • Independent or external coaches;
  • Senior professionals or consultants in specialist fields, i.e. finance, law, medicine, commerce who need to develop interpersonal skills;
  • Senior managers in operational or developmental positions who are responsible for developing their staff and colleagues.

Participants benefit from active exchange with course members and faculty at both practical and conceptual levels. Comments from participants include:

an excellent way to develop the depth of my coaching skills whilst also gaining access to the Tavistock's exceptional expertise in psychodynamics and group process’ and

I am very very satisfied with the approach, contents and dynamics of the course

Links to further quotes from participants can be found on the right side of the page.

The course is residential with a maximum number of 12 participants from the UK and internationally. Early application for this course is recommended to avoid disappointment as the course is always over-subscribed and the date of application will be taken into account.

The course will be co-directed by Jim Mackay PhD., C.Psychol., and Mannie Sher MSc. Both are highly experienced coaches and educators who work with a diverse range of coaching clients.
