Our Work
Evaluation - The International Journal of Theory, Research and Practice
Evaluation is a journal whose aim is to advance the theory, methodology and practice of evaluation by bringing together knowledge and expertise from many disciplines, professions and countries. It aims to be an international forum for dialogue and debate amongst scholars and practitioners. It was founded in1995, and is owned and published by Sage and edited by Elliot Stern.
The journal’s scope
Evaluation addresses common theoretical, methodological and practice concerns alongside personal experiences, to encourage mutual learning and convergence. However, as evaluation is inseparable from issues of implementation, policy and practice, the journal aims to advance theoretical and methodological understandings of evaluation in the context of evaluation policy and practice. Priority will always be given to articles that promote dialogue across these domains, addressing wider contexts and debates.
An international perspective
The journal, launched and edited from a European base, tries to encourage European participation in dialogue and debate with North American, Australasian and other evaluation communities worldwide. Evaluation publishes original, empirical and theoretical research in English, as well as reviews of relevant literature and overviews of the field. There are translations of work from other languages, as well as abstracts in French. The journal is open to contributions from across the social sciences, economics and related disciplines, and especially welcomes multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary and issue-based contributions.
