Evaluation of the Scale Accelerator programme – this project evaluated the experiences and outcomes for 10 social enterprises and charities who took part in a support programme aimed at helping them to scale-up the delivery of their activities.

The Scale Accelerator programme provided social enterprises and charities with a mixture of individual and group support over a 10 month period, with the aim of helping them to develop an acceleration plan, leadership skills and their ability to evaluate and monitor their activities.

Objectives

The main objectives of the evaluation were to explore the experiences and outcomes for 10 participants on the programme, and also to examine any continuing challenges in scaling up their work. 

Methodology

• Review of summary information on organisations and an end-of-project survey
• A telephone, skype or face-to-face interviews with a representative of each of the 10 participant organisations and with three trustees

 

Results

The Scale Accelerator Programme was very well received by all 10 organisations – they valued the support received and did not regret getting involved.The Programme had many positive impacts on participants, including providing organisations with an increased understanding of scaling and making the scaling process more systematic.Participants also appreciated making links with other organisations and developing a more robust evaluation plan. Project Team: Dr Thomas Spielhofer (Project Lead) Dr Kerstin Junge Downloads:Scaling Social Impact in the UK: Insights from Scale Accelerator
