A knowledge review combining a systematic literature review with a practice survey.

The review will examine the roles and responsibilities of organisations in providing social care responses to emergency situations. The review will explore current and historical responses within the UK to regional, national, and international incidents; identify gaps in provision; make recommendations on best practice; and explore challenges of multi-agency working. The practice survey will involve interviews with a number of stakeholders involved in social care emergency response and recovery and in-depth case studies of six incidents. A learning event was held near the end of the research in order to validate and disseminate findings.
