With significant growth over the last two years, Human Relations is recruiting a new associate editor to join its current editorial team.

The initial appointment is for two years, provides an honorarium, and covers parts of travel costs to the annual Academy of Management conference to participate in journal-related events.

Ideal candidates will have made significant scholarly contributions in management studies, have methodological expertise in quantitative or qualitative methods, have had considerable experience as a reviewer and even editorial experience for management journals, and have a curiosity for and capacity to handle manuscripts across a wide range of management and organisational topics.

The editorial team is responsible for editorial policy and practice. It sets the intellectual agenda, commissions special issues, and represents the journal at major academic conferences. In addition, it oversees the submission, review, and acceptance of articles. Each Associate Editor oversees the review process of approximately fifty manuscripts per year in a range of areas, from submission through selection of reviewers, revision, and final decision.

We consider candidates with any expertise in management and organisational studies, with a particular preference for institutional theory, organisational studies, micro organisational behaviour, business and society (e.g., ethics, sustainability), and critical management studies.

If you wish to apply for this post, please email a copy of your full CV and a very brief statement of intent (no more than a page) to Megan Davies (M.Davies@TavInstitute.org), highlighting your publishing, reviewing, and editorial experience as outlined above. We would like to appoint as soon as possible.

Mark Learmonth (the current Editor-in-Chief) and one current Associate Editor will conduct brief interviews with short-listed candidates over Skype at a mutually convenient time.

For an informal discussion prior to applying for this role, please contact Editor-in-Chief Mark Learmonth (mark.learmonth@durham.ac.uk) to set up a time to talk.

Application closing date: Friday 4th September 2020 (11:59pm GMT)
