The theme of innovation for this year’s ODN (Organisational Development Network) conference in October demonstrates that there has never been more need for cutting edge expertise and thoughtfulness in our rapidly changing global environment.

Research projects at 5 UK universities have just recently secured £290m to drive innovation and the Department for Business Innovation and Skills says that these projects will be ‘tackling global challenges’. The money comes from the government plus business and 3rd sector organisations like Rolls Royce, Boeing and GlaxoSmithKline, Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust and Cancer Research UK and these partnerships are constructed, says Chancellor George Osborne, to drive innovation and growth.

Our Practitioner Certificate in Consulting and Change modular programme is specifically designed for innovation and provides a unique educational experience for OD professionals and business executives. Experiential and theoretical enrichment through working with the emergent rather than the planned develops the reflexivity of managers and professionals as they lead and adapt to change. Participants come from all over the world and applications are now being invited for the 2013-14 programme. The first module begins in October 2013 with the last in July 2014.

The programme draws on complexity theory and postmodern theories of organisation as well as core Tavistock Institute understandings of systems psychodynamics and organisational change in relation to turbulent environments. The educational experience is designed around current organisational dilemmas through scenarios and simulations as well as developing skills of practitioners in eliciting and providing peer consultation around their own live organisational change dilemmas.

P3C is now included in a study pathway with the Open University Business School providing postgraduate credits currently worth a discount of £2,000 towards their MBA and other Open University Masters courses. Choosing the 6-month Masters level module: UYB810 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in Practice provides a route for P3C participants (including alumni from the past 4 years) to capitalise on their Tavistock learning when they study for a higher education qualification. It uses the Open University’s unrivalled student support for remote and blended learning so can be studied online, in the UK or overseas. The prestigious Open University provides flexible, high quality, distance learning and is the world’s largest MBA provider with triple accreditation awarded by the world’s leading international management education associations.
