New perspectives on your role

For many people, once the excitement and achievement of a new beginning has begun to wear off, what remains is often not so enjoyable.  Whether you’ve been in job for a while, being offered a new role or getting a promotion feelings of fear and anxiety can quickly make us feel negative.

Natalie Portman describes the feelings of self-doubt she experienced as a Harvard student:

“I felt like there had been some mistake,” she said, “that I wasn’t smart enough to be in this company, and that every time I opened my mouth, I would have to prove that I wasn’t just a dumb actress”

These strong feelings can blind us to the positives that a naïve understanding or a new perspective can create – being able to ask those curious questions that may address difficulties in the way things have always been done or even helpfully challenge the status quo – being a breath of fresh air in your organisation.

Launching Young Leaders is a 1-day experiential workshop on 26 October 2022 to think about your current role or what it’s like to have a new role or be joining another organisation.

Attending the workshop will help you understand yourself and how you behave in groups and teams – and support you in exploring different ways you can take up your role.

We help you understand how previous experiences, that you may bring into work without realising that you’re doing it, can affect your performance.  Becoming aware of these means that you can consider whether they’re helpful or not.

The workshop will address the impact of your different identities at work and the experience of being at work which isn’t usually talked about – the unconscious dynamics – all that under-the-surface stuff.

It will help you develop new insights about yourself and how you behave. You will develop tools and techniques to manage yourself in difficult or stressful situations.

If you’re curious and have questions about what it will be like and/or to find out more about our offers for groups of young and emerging leaders, you can speak to Coreene Archer, Director, Launching Young Leaders. Please contact Emily Kyte to arrange this.
