Launching Young Leaders workshop

“Young people aren’t the leaders of tomorrow – they are the leaders of today and tomorrow”. Kathy Calvin Chief Executive Officer of the United Nations Foundation

“Don’t worry about the bits you can’t understand.
Sit back and allow the words to wash around you, like music”.
From Matilda by Ronald Dahl

“A genuine leader is not a searcher for consensus, but a molder of consensus”. Martin Luther King Jr

In the last few weeks, a great deal has been written about Greta Thunberg whose name has been all over the media as the example of young leadership and change. Her challenge for global leaders on the question of climate change sparked admiration in some and irritation in others. The reasons for admiration may seem obvious; she is young, dynamic and fearless – a powerful combination.

However, what she also does is represent leadership in a particular way, perhaps suggesting that you have to be a certain type of person to be a leader. This is a view that is supported by the culture of celebrity that dominates our society – but this is not an accurate reflection of what leadership is really about.

It has been suggested that true leadership is much more than authority and recognition from the outside world. Leadership is about developing people and helping others reach their full potential. It’s about equipping others with the right tools and strategies not only to maximize the success of an organisation but also the lives of individuals.

Launching Young Leaders offer one-day experiential workshops that explores leadership, teams, groups and how we as individuals function in them. In this workshop, we create a space for those preparing for leading roles at all levels to explore the influence of work on identity; how we change to be “accepted” at work; what qualities are missing and what bits of ourselves we ignore or perhaps are unaware of.

This is a workshop that helps you to know yourself somewhat better and what qualities you bring to the world of work.
