STS: socio-technical systems 2012 working conference

Canterbury, UK: September 12th - 15th

Posted

21 August 2012

Partnering with the Tavistock Institute of Human Relations (TIHR) and Canterbury Christ Church University, the STS Roundtable will co-host a working conference focused on exploring common ground and variations in the practice of STS around the world, with particular emphasis on humane design and development of organisations.

The three partner organisations are particularly appropriate to host this event: TIHR’s founding mission explicitly places priority on the well-being of people in work, communities and society; Canterbury Christ Church University is the largest centre for higher education in Kent for ‘people services’ with the central value of empowering individuals in contributing to innovative and sustainable communities; and the STS/RT membership shares a common interest in applying socio-technical systems approaches in developing more humane and effective organisations.

To find out more about the focus of this year’s conference you can read the article ‘What’s Humane Got to Do With It?’ by Jean Neumann and Antonio Sama, published here.

Further information about the conference and registration details can be found on the STS/RT website.
