…for exceptional achievements in adult learning.
We’re delighted to announce that the Tavistock Institute of Human Relations has been Highly Commended in the Festival of Learning 2018 awards.
The award by the Festival of Learning celebrates employers that have embraced learning and actively supported their workforce to develop their skills, gain qualifications and transform their own lives and the lives of their families, friends, their communities, and the places they work.
The Festival of Learning congratulated us by writing:
The Tavistock Institute of Human Relations designs innovative development programmes which are tailored to suit individual learners.
One programme piloted an online game to build social entrepreneurship skills. Staff gained facilitator skills through peer learning with partners and colleagues, were involved in training new facilitators and finally in facilitating the game with students who took their new social entrepreneurship skills into their life post-graduation.
Staff at Tavistock Institute of Human Relations can access their Professional Development Portfolio which consists of a variety of modular courses and conferences, workshops and a 2-week residential leadership intensive event.
All staff at the Tavistock Institute, from apprentices to the CEO, are also actively encouraged to take up learning opportunities and to choose which learning paths will benefit them.
Anne Benson, Head of Professional Development at the Tavistock Institute of Human Relations, said: “Wherever you begin your career at the Institute, you are encouraged to continue developing new skills and to use these in different ways.”
Staff member Rachel Kelly, said: “We are inspired to continuously develop and transform ourselves personally and professionally and integrate other areas of our lives with the work we do here.”
Stephen Evans, Chief Executive at Learning and Work Institute, said: “Tavistock Institute of Human Relations have demonstrated a strong commitment to staff development and training. The inclusivity of their approach is exemplary, with staff at all levels being able to access learning opportunities every year benefiting their careers or home lives. “
“Festival of Learning is all about inspirational stories of people like the Tavistock Institute of Human Relations that show that anyone can benefit from learning. Lifelong learning is vital for all of us as jobs and society change around us. We encourage everyone to give learning a try, particularly in June when hundreds of free activities can be found on our Have a Go Month calendar. Further information on learning opportunities and support with the costs of courses is available through the National Careers Service, colleges and community learning providers. “
Festival of Learning is led by Learning and Work Institute, an independent policy and research organisation dedicated to lifelong learning, full employment and inclusion. It believes everyone should have the opportunity to realise their ambitions and potential in learning, work and throughout life. Festival of Learning is the largest celebration of lifelong learning in England. The Festival celebrates the outstanding achievements of adults who have used learning to transform their lives, and highlights how lifelong learning benefits society and the economy.
