Abstract:

In this article, Giorgia Iacopini and Laura Stock, Researcher-Consultants at the Tavistock Institute of Human Relations, consider how evaluation can be a useful intervention for managers who need to design and deliver programmes in contested social policy fields. The article includes two case studies of evaluations of local authority Prevent programmes. It is relevant to managers who need to demonstrate the effectiveness and success of their work, particularly managers in the public and voluntary sectors engaged in politically sensitive programmes.
